Hi Rune,
The answer is no if you need a 200mm lens. The longer answer is that you
can get very nice blown out shallow DOF backgrounds with incredible contrast
and sharpness at the plane of focus with the EF 135 2L and similar results
with the EF 85 1.8USM. Both of these lenses are much less expensive, they
also focus very quickly and reliably but are obviously shorter focal
lengths.
There is also the option of the Canon EF 300 2.8L which goes for about the
same money as an EF 200 1.8L but has the added advantage less background
showing in the blur. The down side of an EF 300 2.8L is weight and size but
it can be used as an excellent 420mm f/4 lens and a still very good 600mm
f/5.6 lens when used with one of Canon's EF 1.4X or EF 2X converters
respectively.
