I'll give you a scary example of how bad labs can be... Last time I had six rolls of
E6 processed, I used mailers (from a respectable medium-volume norwegian lab). They
managed to NOT cut the 00 and 0 frames away (I use an EOS 3, so I only get frames
1-36), but the last frame (37) was cut on the middle. "Why is that bad" you ask? Well,
the poor soul whos film had been processed before me had lost his last frame (half of
it was taped to the beginning of mine)... I removed it, put it in an envelope along
with a letter where I explained that I would not risk my film in their lab untill I
was sure they would not do this to me. Now I use a semi-pro lab (that actually does
120-film too) that does all the work themselves (machine processing and printing). The
price is allmost the same (6 for developing E6 or any type 120-film and 3/6"x6"
print), but they do the job a LOT better (AND they even custom cut my film-strips
(most labs do 4 or 5 per strip, but these guys gladly do 6 per strip))!
