Why not get a second body?  Price wise you can come out ahead and you will have
the advantage of a second body should the other fail.  You will also have the L
glass with you.....

A quick scan of one of the major mail order houses shows the Elan 7 at about
$400US, the EOS-3 At about $850US and the EOS-5qd at about $485US, and the
Tokina 28-200 at about $760US.

Two of the bodies are less than the Tokina lens and the -3 less than $100US
above the Tokina lens.
