I have experienced one 'semi-problem' with NiMH batteries, though it doesn't
apply to flashes. They make some motors turn slower because of the lower
voltage, just as Lithium AA's make some motors turn faster because of their
higher (1.7v) voltage. When I replaced an exhausted set of ordinary alkaline
AA's in the PB-E2 with a new set of fully-charged NiMH's, I could hear a
clear difference in frame rate. It slowed down a little. Not being an
engineer, I can't say whether this lower voltage would have any long-term
bad effect on motors, and I don't use any sort of AA batteries in my PB-E2
any more.
