EOS1's are a pretty good deal on the used market.

The EOS1 does not, and neither does the EOS1n. The -3,
-1v and Elan 7 are E-TTL.

I find the autofocus on the Elan II to be slightly
faster. Also, on the EOS1, you have only one focusing
point right smack in the middle of the screen.

Unless you are going to be knocking the camera around
seriously (you need the ruggedness) need the higher
framing rate (you'd need to buy the PB-E1 booster), or
find the interchangable screens or spot meter
essential, I think you'd be better off buying 2 Elan
II's for the price of that EOS1. The same goes for the
A2. The A2's additional negatives are the command dial
problem (unless you get a deal on one that's already
been repaired) and the lack of an AA-cell battery pack
like the BP50. Any old A2 or EOS1 is likely to be
older chronologically than a used Elan II.

I think E-TTL and light weight are more important for
what you are doing. Also, you won't have to re-learn
the user interface for a new camera. (The EOS1 has a
series of buttons that are used for mode selection,
that aren't too clear at first.) If you want something
different, look for a Japan market Elan II (the EOS
55) in black. :-)

All my opinion, of course!
