I find my EF300 f/4 IS to be very useful. I use it with both the 1.4x and 2x Canon TC on an EOS 3 and 5. When using the 1.4x TC I can hardly see any change in image quality. Using the 2x TC (type II) the quality of the pictures is still good, but the contrast and sharpness are not as good as with the 1.4x TC IMHO. If you're interested in birds then the 300mm will be a bit short. In that case you probably should be looking at 500mm lenses. > 2) Is IS on the Canon primes worth the extra money? Yes it is! IS has enabled me to take some low-light situation pictures handheld that I couldn't have made without a tripod using the non-IS version. I usually make my wildlife pictures in the Kruger National Park, and taking a tripod with you is just not an option so IS is ideal in those situations. You can check-out some of the pictures I took with the 300mm and TC's on my homepage (http://www.xs4all.nl/~quanjer/African_Wildlife) Arnoud * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
