Hi Billy, I don't care why it's so f'ing slow AFing, just that it is! If Canon wanted to, they could have designed a the lens with an internal or rear focus design and still had an excellent lens and I would now own an EF 85 1.2 L and so would about a million other people! I loved these lenses in all ways save AF speed, weight and cost be dammed! As to consideration of the lens image quality vs. speed and acuracy of AF operation I already have considered it and I bought both an EF 50 1.4USM and EF 85 1.8USM lenses which easily match the sharpness and contrast of their big sisters and they know how to dance!
