I've noticed just recently when using my 28-135IS that occassionally when I engage the shutter button the IS mechanism makes a nasty loose rattly type sound before it settles down. I've had the lens for 18 mths and this has just started happening - definitely not right. I'll wait for it to become more regular before taking it to Canon service. Considering the amount of IS problems with the lens reported on this list, one has to wonder about the possibility of an inherent weakness in the design. Not that I'm complaining - it is still a great lens for it's purpose.
