> Has anyone tried to go this route, with cheaper digitals? Yes, and I love it and I hate it. I got a Nikon Coolpix 885 for Christmas. It's a great/terrible camera, and I haven't processed a single roll of film since I got it (I'm sure this will change when the weather here gets better).
Certainly, it can't replace my EOS equipment. However, immediate results, zero per-photo cost, and not having to visit the photo shop make it great for casual use. Plus, my wife isn't afraid of it.
