IS is certainly handy (I have a 28-135), but it does increase the price
significantly. Also, I wonder about durability and the ability to detect if
it is actually working properly. I don't mean a complete failure, but if
something wears or goes out of adjustment, could the problem actually cause a
reduction in image quality? I think the 70-200L f4 is an excellent lens for
$600. I wish I could purchase a matching shorter focal length lens with the
same qualities for this price. Weight and bulk are increasing concerns with
air travel and advancing age.
