Canon makes a little tool and supplies it with replacement/accessory
focusing screens. The screens are made of relatively soft plastic and
are easily scratched. I suggest buying a replacement screen (about $30
US) and using the tool supplied with it.

However, it is do-able with small tweezers. There is a latch on the
front which holds the frame (which holds the screen in place), allowing
the frame to swing down (it's hinged in the back). The screen has a
small tab (on the front) which is used to lift the screen.
