Are you going for the most portable and flexible setup possible? If you asked me to stick to canon, I'd go with a 550ex and 420ex slaves. If not, I'd maybe go for a vivitar setup. It is all manual, but you could get 3 flashes plus slaves for less than $150US. If you want to spend the money, get some monolights. You wont be disappointed!
