Hello, Howard This question is interesting for me too at this time (now I own one 420EX flash) and I think about buying additional 420EX and 550EX. At first I would buy 550EX -- it will be on camera and 420EX will be modelling light when doing portraits. Even this two lights setup will give me some flexibility in lighting, but when I get second 420EX...!
ST-E2 in my country costs about 120Ls (Ls -- Latvian money), 420EX -- 160LS, 550EX -- 260Ls. ST-E2 an two 420EX flashes -- I think it is very interesting setup, but I choose tree light setup.
