I've just received a test roll of film from my new Canon EF 22-55 
f/4-5.6 USM lens. As you might know, it's a lens that was originally 
made for Canon's SLR APS camera (now discontinued, I believe). It's 
selling at B&H Photo for $99. To my pleasant surprise, it's a gem--one 
of the bargains of the camera world.

When I got the slides back, I put them on the light table and 
scrutinized them for edge softness and distortion. I couldn't find any, 
even at 22mm. That's assuming of course that you watch your lines. I 
took a couple of shots of an old church's huge entrance looking straight 
up to get the lines to converge. Beautiful.

If you're looking for a cheap wide angle, actually, super wide angle, 
it's worth a look.
