We have two IX bodies right now for that very reason, I've been very happy with the size and the quality of the pictures. Unlike Pierre, I didn't buy either of the IX Lite lenses, which are the only plastic mount USM lenses in production (I think) and have been pretty widely panned in reviews. The 24-85's that came with the IX kits are great lenses, I've also used the 20-35, and 75-300 USM lenses as well. Once, I even took a few shots with the 70-200 2.8L mounted, but it's a pretty awkward package <lol>.
I've never actually the 28-135 on it, I guess because of the 1.2 conversion factor I use the 20-35 more often than longer focal lengths. The other thing I enjoy using it as a light travelling package is that my wife's Elph uses the same film, further cutting how much "stuff" you have to lug around. Of course, now she's using a digital Elph, and I've got my eye on the D60, so I think the IX kit may be headed for eBay. Tom P. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jose L. I currently own an Elan 50e, EF > 28-80 IV, EF 50 1.8 and a 75-300 IS. Maybe I will get it with a new 28-135 > IS. Any suggestions on IX model, or else?
