There's a big enough filter waiting for you at the corner of the street or where you can find a Ferreter�a. There you'll find glass replacements for welder googles (lentes de soldar). The light produced by electric soldering is quite rich in UV and IR and this filter can protect your eyes very good against the sun as well. Of course, the most common filter, the green, will introduce a colour cast but you can get away with it. There're also silver plated, but here I could only find small circles of 40 mm diameter.
