Hi Derek,
I have both bodies and only use the 1v with the 300/2.8IS as it really does
focus considerably faster. There are several CF's I use with the auto select
AF which make most shooting situations a breeze. Mind you, I do the same
with the -3 and rarely use the ECF function anyway. IMO the 1v is a
significant improvement on the -3 and worth the extra bucks.
