I agree with all of the previous posts (i.e., fastest shutter speed, smallest aperture, manual focus, lens cap on). I've used this approach many times without problem. In fact, I don't even bother shooting an extra frame or two as some posters have suggested and I've never encountered a double-exposure of any kind using an Elan IIe.
