I have the 500D and it is great to take along when I'm carrying either a
100-400 or 70-200. It keeps the macro option open without having to carry
an extra lens, and the stand-off distance is great. As far as quality, I
think it is superb, especially compared to single element close-up filters
(diopter lenses). It is sometimes I think better because with a zoom and
the standoff, your framing can be more precise. It is a heavy piece of
glass; however, and you need secure tripod/head combination. I'm always
getting close to what I think I want, then tightening it down, letting go
and having to readjust. (With a long lens and a flash, it make a great walk
around butterfly lens too--flash reduces need for tripod)
