Subject: EOS 3 metering deviation

Hi,

I had testet my EOS 3 body (because I bought it second-hand), and the
service stated that it underexposes max. 1/2 EV. The deviation isn't
consistent, sometimes smaller, eg. 1/3 at certain amount of light and
1/2 at other EVs. He also said that it is within the official acceptance
interval, so the camera need no repair. I may use +1/3 exp.
compensation, if I wish (or adjust the ISO setting).

Are there any official statement about how narrow (or wide) should be
this acceptance interval, how much deviation is allowed from the
optimum?

The camere was manufactured in 2001 July ( OOO711).

Thanks, Zoli

Hi Zoli,

My (relatively new - 2 months old) EOS 3 also consistently underexposed
for 1/3 stop (comparing w/ EOS 620, 50E, and D30). It doesn't bother me
since I just leave the exposure compensation at + 1/3 stop.

Regards,,, Bambang.
