This probably was asked already in the past. Has anyone done any serious comparison tests to see how significant the improvement (if any) the EF 2X Extender version II is over the version I? The 1.4X changes strictly involved gasketing and internal anti-reflection flocking. The 2X supposedly has a new optical design.
One interesting thing I noticed is how it is now impossible to find a cross-section, optical diagram of the vI model once it was officially discontinued.
