Hi John,

My evidence is purely anecdotal and based on field experience. I used the
mkI on my 300/2.8IS very rarely as I found the racetrack images shot on
print film a little too soft, too often. I updated about six months ago and
am much happier with the result. I have gone back to shooting an angle I had
previously avoided which is shown in this example:
http://www.timmunro.com.au/images/MCRidedaycurrent/22802158_28.jpg This is
too low res for you to get an idea of the mkII optical performance, but I am
enlarging these shots taken with the 300/2.8IS + 2x mkII up to 20" x 30"
without complaint. I still use it only when necessary and stick with the
1.4x if possible, but there is a definite improvement visible in the
upgraded 2x, as well as the advantage of weather sealing.
I did see at least one report giving a more detailed approach and the thumbs
up to the new one but I cannot remember where.

Regards, Tim
