............. Then theres a special note for the A2 that just sez "set
> -1/2-stop exposure compensation with the EF1.4X II or -1 stop with the
EF2X
> II". My question is I'm I opening up that 1/2 stop "after" the camera
> meter gives me a reading? What about compensation when using a incident
> meter, just open that 1/2 stop again after I meter the scene?

Tom,
You tell us above that the instruction is to set minus half stop (-1/2) for
1.4x and minus one stop (-1) for the 2x, but then go on to ask about opening
up for compensation ?? The instruction as quoted by you is clearly to close
down to compensate. I cannot understand why though and suggest you check
again. It would be more logical to open up by those amounts when using
convertors.

Why don't you just dial in the half or full stop with your exposure
compensation dial to make life easy? The camera reading will then be
correct. For incident meter just add (or subtract) the compensation amount
to your reading then set the camera to that exposure manually.

I've never owned an A2 so don't have any first hand experience. Hope this
helps.
