Guys and gals,

Does anyone know if the lens mechanism on the new 24-70mm f/2.8L uses
internal zooming, or does the barrel actually extend outwards when you zoom
to 24mm? The 70-200mm f/2.8L lens has all internal zooming mechanisms so
the physical dimensions of the lens doesn't change when you zoom. So it has
intrinsically better weatherproofing. The only reason why I'd go to the
24-70mm f/2.8L is if it has no external extension of the lens barrel. Can
you say "better dust proofing"?

Lawrance
