Not strange, and typical of every SLR that meters off the focusing screen. Which is to say almost every SLR made today. Use the shield that is part of the neck strap, or just hang a rear lens cap over the veiwfinder. As for the 2/3 stop exposure error, unless yours is a pretty old 3 I doubt it.
