Hmm, yes. But they ARE allowed to run faster than 50 mph. ;-) > >Then, there are those things you won't see when you are in a hurry: Real > >world results. The Leica glow is "old-timer talk" that typically > justifies an amateur owning an expensive lens. Granted the 28-70L is > an excellent optic, but unless you need F2.8, save your money. Make that "unless you need f/5.6" and I'm with you. f/5.6 is actually wide open for e.g. the 28-135 IS over a big part of its range. And a consumer zoom (almost) wide open is not exactly fun. Of course the 28-135 has its merits, mainly the bigger zoom range and - IS. That's why I bought one, not because it's equal to the 28-70L. And no, I don't need to justify my expenses. It would be a hard job to do, because I own way too much "normal zooms" anyway (Sigma 28-70/2.8, EF 35-80/4.5-5.6 (argh), EF 28-105/3.4-4.5, EF 28-135/3.5-5.6, EF 28-70/2.8L). You may call me a collector ;-), some of those lenses just gather dust. I USE the EF 28-70L, the EF 28-135 IS and - rarely - the EF 28-105.
