Michael Reichmann cautions against drawing early conclusions about whether or not digital is now "better" than film. But that conclusion is becoming less avoidable: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/cameras/1ds/1ds-field.shtml Look at his comparisons of the 1Ds with 35mm and 120 film. Canon have this embargoed. > Actually, there are sample images on several sites. It appears they are all from the same preproduction body. They are large files and "Steve's Digicams" SLR test site seems to download faster than most of the bunch. Steve posts image samples "out of the box" because he wants to show what the average user can expect to produce with no image editing. This doesn't seem logical because one who buys a 1Ds would hardly qualify as "average". Be that as it may, I don't see enough difference from D60 images to warrant any additional cost. It would be nice to have the use of W/A lenses on my D60 but for those few times when I really need less than 35mm I'll toss an old RT or 630 body in the sack and save $3000.
