Hi Bart,

I shoot motorsports (CART, NHRA), yacht races (sailboats), and field sports
(baseball, basket ball, soccer etc.), Currently I use a couple of EOS 1n
bodies with PB-E1 boosters with third EOS 1n/booster for back-up, all loaded
up with a bunch of NiCad packs. I also use a Rebel G for family stuff where
I only need fill flash or a very light or cheap camera. I have owned and
used EOS RT, EOS Rebel G, EOS Elan IIE, EOS 5QD, EOS 1, EOS 1n, EOS 1nRS,
EOS 1v bodies. So I can tell you from personal experience that while the
EOS 1 has a much more solid feel, has a more logical control layout and is
an incredibly reliable body it trails well behind the EOS 5 body in several
key areas especially if you don't have a lot of f/2.8 or faster glass to
hang on the front of the EOS 1 body.

Unless this is a second body keep your EOS 5, it has many more every day
features than the EOS 1. For example the pop up flash and controls that
match the body exactly on the VG-10 vs. shutter release and AE buttons only
on the PB-E1. Faster film advance (you MUST mount the PB-E1 to just to
match the EOS 5 FPS rate and this only with f/2.8 or faster glass!), 5 AF
points etc. If you are a landscape photographer or don't shoot moving
subjects, are going to Afghanistan to do reporting I might make the trade,
but if you are an amateur photographer keep your EOS 5!

Cheers/Chip
