I have the 200 mkI, and 1.4X and 2X. It is my main lens, as I photograph
mostly birds. I bought the 1.4X and was very pleased with the results.
At a later time got the 2X and what bugged me most was the noticably slower
autofocus.
I am happy with the results of the 200 f2.8 + 2X.
With a 2X or 1.4X I recomend a collar. I think the collars that fit the
300 f4(not IS) and the 400 f5.6 fit the 200 f2.8 mkI.
Somebody please correct me if I am wrong.
