As others have posted, it's the same for both versions (only the lens
hood changed from integral/telescopic to bayonet-mount), and for 80-
200/2.8 & 300/4.0.

That said, obtaining this collar might become one of the most
challenging tasks in EOS-procurement....:))

Version II of the 2x converter (those with weather-sealing) is a bit
better I believe, version II of the 1.4x is identical to version I.

Btw, I love my 200/2.8 (mark I) for the simple fact that it is the
longest focal length that fits upright in a side pocket of my LowePro
PhotoTrekker (classic, before they were called classic, but not the
very first version with a fixed full-width velcro compartment).

Btw2: while skiing, I autodidactically learned a new trick to steady
the lens (a must after after attacking heavy moguls....;))
....simply fold your left arm in a triangle, with your left hand
grabbing your right arm or shoulder (making it a fairly solid
triangle), and rest the front of the lens onto the corner of that
left arm (but be careful with the focus ring)....I guess I gained at
least 1, if not 2 stops that way....
I think I once even managed to grab the lens or collar or camera
itself with my left hand, folded around, but somehow I can't repeat
that particular trick....8-))
(might have been portrait-mode and booster specific)

(seriously wanting a 200/2.8 IS or even a 200/2.0 IS/DO in the same
length, because the 12 ASA of Kodak infrared (Wratten #87C mounted
inside, between the filmrails, no viewfinder obstruction) beats me
with the 2x converter, even on the brightest sunny day)
