Note though that for projecting slides, there is still no 
alternative....beamers above screen resolution don't even exist.

Nor is there an alternative for swing-lens (or even rotating camera) 
panorama photographers (not all subjects(moving!) are suitable for 
the digital stitching route, nor is a tripod suitable for all 
trips....;))

Combine the two, by projecting a 6x12cm Noblex slide with a Leitz 
large format Diaskop projector, and you couldn't match quality with 
even a dozen beamers stitched together....;))
