Of course they could also produce one with 31x36mm� sensor, letting user choose either 24x36 or 31x31 format, or even a 36x36mm� sensor, which would allow switching between vertical and horizontal shots without turning the camera...
Tapani A square 31 x 31 would be better than what they have now. Square formats (for negatives) are not new (in fact exceedingly old). But few pictures work best square (Album covers, calendars?). For the end product, pixel for pixel, a non-square rectangle is more efficent than a square (you don't have to increase the horizontal of vertical "focal length multiplication factor" to end up with the shape you want.).
