Jim Davis wrote (edited): I used to use the Kenko MC7 2X on my 75-300 and with EOS 10 I could auto focus in the lower half of the range at least. But it wasn't worth using, I just manually focused it. And the quality of it was so poor, it wasn't really an option for serious shooting.
Strangely, the MC7 did a 'decent' job with the 75-300, but I tested it on my 85/1.8 and it was crap. I guess extenders are designed for longer focal length lenses. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jim Davis Jim, Depends on a few factors, one in particular being aperture. Your 75-300 with 2x will do a good job at 300mm using an aperture like F16. Using the same 2x with the 85mm F1.8 if you were using something like F4 then yes it would not be good, you need to stop down to make it work best. Personally, I would trade in the Kenko for a Tamron SP 2x. Much better than Kenko and as good as Canon's for 40% of Canon's price. And for those who need it, its beige.
