We had the discussion on the Amateur Photographer site about buying from Ritz Cameras in the US. They are advertising the 10D at $1449. If I was to pay $51 for shipping this brings the total to a nice round $1500. As stated, the Import Duty to the UK for digital still cameras is 0%, VAT is 17.5% and the fee for Custom clearance is 10 GBP, with 1 GBP = $1.56, this brings the total to 1130 GBP. The 10D is advertised at around 1240 GBP at www.tradecameras.co.uk and I would feel more secure buying from there than the US and paying the extra 110 GBP. Until Canon sets a proper worldwide pricing structure we will always be tempted to by from outside EC/EU (or whatever they call it today). The way that Gerard is going, he will be able to collect one shortly from the US, as the International correspondent for EOS Magazine - another good article this time.
