Hi Greg, That's quite ingenious projecting the light that way - with a film camera I've looked through the open film back to check filter vignetting and so forth (which you obviously can't do with the 10D!). I guess the only thing to take into account is the viewfinder cropping factor of 90+% (or so), but a few test shots will quickly show where it needs further trimming. I suspect you'll end up with a slightly deeper hood than the EW-83DII - it apparently will also work on the EOS 1D (1.3x crop) with only slight vignetting (or alternatively only slight mods required to the hood). In any case it's a lot better on the 10D than the standard 35mm format hood, and much easier to fit in the bag too... Incidentally, when I bought my hood, the price originally quoted was AU$60 or so, but the actual cost was only AU$14.80 - a price the shop checked against their invoice. Maybe Canon Oz made a mistake with that one as nearly every other hood they sell costs at least AU$40, but I'm not complaining! Cheers Gary This message has passed through an insecure network.
