Just wondering....has any manufacturer ever released a more narrow
lens hood to compensate for the smaller chip-size of most digicams?
Using the default full-size hood means that unnecessary stray light
enters the edges, in particular with exposed/bulging/sunlight-
vulnerable wide angles.
Aftermarket seems unlikely, other than generic stuff like the modular
Cokin hoods (lovely clumsy stuff though....:))
And for the worst affected lenses, super wide angles, it must of
course be an add-on/slip-on hood, over the fixed default hood.
OTOH, the problem is worse in reverse, when using a full-frame
fisheye (with full-frame petal-shaped hood, or even only 4 small
wings) on a larger format as circular fisheye....the hood must be
removed or cut off in that case.
(that's the only mistake I made when selecting the Mamiya 37mm (6x7)
to mount on a Speed Graflex 4x5"....the Pentax 35mm has no hood nor
wings, the Mamiya has (the helical focus mount of the Pentax would
also be a plus, but not in a similar 'destructive' context....:))
