Can any one advise on a good source of information on computer monitors

OT but so far I found nothing, just the usual "your games/DVDs will look
great on this monitor". I was hoping some of you guys could point me in the
right direction. Thank you.

Generally, for color-critical work, CRTs do a better job then LCDs, although higher-end LCDs (Apple, at least) are getting pretty good. Conventional wisdom says that cheap LCDs aren't very good for photography; I've seen substantial color shifts as the viewing angle changes and small gamuts.

In either case, you need to profile them if you care about color. Having individual red/green/blue settings gives you slightly better profiles then you'd get with only a "color temperature" setting, but either one will work. After that, photography cares about most of the same things that everything else does; size and resolution, plus refresh rates for CRTs and viewing angles for LCDs.
