I bought a 28 2.8 instead of the 1.8 because I found it to be sharper. I tried both - the beauty of digital. Go to a shop and snap to your hearts content with all your potential lenses, then go home and compare them all. You'll even have the EXIF info to help you out! BTW the 50mm 1.8 still makes a good lens on the EOS Ds.
