I'm about to buy either the 420ex or the 550ex for my EOS50. Puting prices aside, would there be any reason why i would NOT want to buy the 550 ?
I've heard stories about the 550 producing some washed out results. Even if that's the case, since it has quite a few manuakl settings you can compensate for that, right ? I've also heard that battery consumption is greater on 550, i assume because of the lcd ? Can u turn the lcd light on/off ? or is it always on ? At the moment, i'm not gonna use all the advanced features(wireless etc) of the 550 but since i can find it at a reasonable price i think it's more value for money and more future-proof. According to canon,australia the weights are 100g for the 420 and 400+ for the 550. Is that true? such a difference ? How bulkier the 550 is ? What's the widest 420 can go? I know it's 17mm for the 550.
