You can check your manual but i think the SE position of the switch is
to shut off after a length of time and save the batteries. Depending
on how long it's sat, it will take a short while to get ready to fire
again. Therefore in some situations you might want to not use the SE
position so as to be instantly ready to shoot at all times. But of
course you must remember to switch it to SE if you're going to set it
down for awhile :-)
