People can certainly spam you using the user-to-user interface on eBay, I've
gotten plenty of offers from other eBay members to sell me something like I
lost a bid on. But the only way they can get your email address is if you
reply to them. There was a time when many folks naively used their email
address as their eBay ID, but eBay no longer allows that for obvious
reasons.
