I don't think it will replace the 75-300IS. Rather it fills the gap between the 75-300IS and the 100-400L IS. Given the number of non-IS lenses in the same range, I should think there's room in the market for three IS ones in there. The optical quality of the 70-300DO is still uncertain, but if it is comparable to the 100-400L, I think it will be a winner. I've been traveling with the 100-400 and cursing its size and weight, and with the 75-300IS and cursing its lack of FTM, slow focusing and softness at the long end; the 70-300IS sounds like just the ticket, unless it turns out to be a lemon optically. Thus I'd expect the price to drop somewhat but stay well above the 75-300IS. But only time will tell. -- Tapani Tarvainen * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
