Nope, I doubt this is a replacement for the 75-300. The prices are vastly different. Also DO optics are supposed to be on par with L lenses, so this lens may probably end up (hopefully) at arount the same price as a 70-200/4L. I'd also expect the performance of this lens to be much better than the 75-300, probably as good as the 70-200/4L in the real world. For the price, it better be.
