I am not a gentleman, but I had that error with my 10D after I bought a new-to-me Sigma lens that needed to be rechipped. Camera worked fine with all of my other lenses. I got the lens rechipped, and it works fine now. Have you acquired a new lens around the same time you started getting this error?
