Hi Alex

You have to watch the ball heads too. I was using a Manfrotto 352rc ball
head and was getting similar "undesired shifts" no matter how hard I
tightened it. I switched to a 486rc2 ball head recently and it's much
better.
It seems like Manfrotto's "load specs" generally apply when the load is
centered over the ball head.
I'm using an Elan7e & battery pack with a 100-400L
