I have used several. I have two favorites, the Bogen 3265, fast, solid and works even with medium format. After using this I never went back to tilt/pan heads as they were too slow for me. If this is not for you, then check out the Velbon PH253. It is magnesium, only a few ounces and will support 6.6 lbs (3 kgs). And the price is right at $US59.95 at B&H. BTW, you can pay more for a ballhead but this one is a bargain.
