It would be a surprise to me, too, especially since Tamron actually licenses the EF interface from Canon, unlike Sigma/Tokina/Cosina who reverse engineer it and come up short every few years.


Not so much as "come up short" than "Canon deliberately designs its new cameras to be incompatible." Do you really think Canon changes that much of the interface to control a cheap 50mm f/1.8 that it *has* to break all of the old Sigmas?


There's no proof, but I think Canon is doing it out of spite.
