I'd have to agree with you on that. If money is not a factor, Canon certainly puts forth the best combination of glass, design, engineering and features. Undoubtedly there are other lenses with great glass, but when you add in USM, noise, FTM, weatherproofing, resale value and the other features that distinguish the L lenses, there are no equals. The downside is that there are no equals in price, as well, and many folks will trade off some or all of those things for a cheaper price.
