Wouldn't it be called the 3D if it were? :)

As I said in my earlier post the two bodies are so similar that it makes no
sense for Canon to make a 3D. The only differences I can recall between the
1 & 3 are better weather sealing and I think the 1V with the PB-E2 booster
gets 1 more fps than the 3 with the PB-E2. The 1 also had a faster AF
mechanism but I never owned a 1 film body, only a 3, so I can't say how much
faster. I know my 3 body was very quick focusing.

I wonder if you are trying to organize the Canon Digital bodies like the
film ones? i.e. 1Ds is 11 MP so it must be 1, 1D.2 is 8 MP so it must be 3,
10D is 6 MP so it must be 7 ...

That type of thinking doesn't really apply. The digital body number is not
based on resolution but rather build. The 1s are the best built with the
best weather sealing, and are usually the quickest focusing and shooting
bodies, in regards to fps. So, in that respect, all the 1D bodies are built
on the best frame with the most weather sealing. A 3D would be built in line
with the 3 film body, which, again, is very similar to a 1 body so I don't
think it will ever materialize.
