ECF seems to be less and less important to Canon. I
think the 3 and the Elan 7 series are the only bodies
that offer it now. I wonder if it wasn't the selling
feature Canon hoped for.
I liked ECR on my Elan IIe, but the version on the 3
never worked very well for me. It lit up the wrong
focus point as often as the right one. Maybe it's
because I've spent almost my entire photographic life
(about 35 years) doing it, but using the central focus
point and then recomposing is second nature, and not a
big deal most of the time.
